What the Font Fixer changes
Letters cut off in Windows
Windows apps only draw what fits between two values in the font file, usWinAscent and usWinDescent. If a swash or an accent goes past them, it gets clipped. The fixer measures every glyph and raises the values so everything fits.
PDFs that refuse the font
A small setting called fsType tells apps whether the font may be embedded. “Restricted” makes some apps refuse it. The fixer can set it to Installable, the friendliest option for desktop licenses.
Designer and license info
Font files have room for the designer, foundry, version and a license note with a link. The fixer fills them in for a whole family at once, and can remember your studio’s details.
Nothing else is touched
Outlines, kerning, OpenType features and glyph names stay exactly as they were. Only the values above change, and the fixed file is saved in the format you choose.
Privacy: your fonts are processed by your own browser with fontTools, the same open-source library type foundries use. Nothing is uploaded to our server.
